How we do it

It’s easy, actually. We teach the puppies exactly what we expect of them by capturing good behaviors and rewarding the puppy. All puppies are clicker and marker word trained when they start the Puppy Day Training Program. This allows us to mark behaviors exactly when they happen and reward the puppies for doing what we want them to do.

Here’s a great example: Your puppy is playing and sees us and comes running because they are excited to see us. (We are pretty awesome and they all love us!) We click the clicker to reward the puppy for coming to us as soon as the puppy gets to us we praise them like crazy and offer them a treat or a lot of time we use their kibble. This is teaching the puppy going to my person is amazing and I get yummy treats when I make that choice to go check in! Sounds pretty simple right? It is if you understand what you’re doing. That’s what we’re here for. We get your puppy started on learning the good behaviors and then we coach you on how to keep up the good work at home.

FAQ:

What is the cost?    $60.00 per day

How long is Puppy Day Training?   We require the puppies coming for Day Training to come 3 consecutive weeks.  This allows them to adjust to us and feel comfortable.  After they have completed their 3 weeks with us you can bring them 1-5 days a week Monday thru Friday.  We just ask that you let us know which days you will be planning to bring them.

How long can my puppy come to Puppy Day Training?  Puppies are welcome all the way up until 6 months of age for Puppy Day Training.

What to expect from Puppy Day Training!  During your puppy's time with us we will be working on a schedule for potty training, crate training, car rides. outings if you agreed on that, getting into the grooming tub, brushing, nails, mouth handling, vet holds, socialization around adult dogs that are safe.  We will also work on getting onto a place cot, sit, down, finding heel position, coming when called, keeping feet on the floor, play time in our puppy safe zones.  You can expect your puppy to go home tired and ready for dinner and a little play time.

What not to expect from Puppy Day Training!  Super star obedience skills.  While obedience is super important.  What we feel is even more important during this time in your puppy's life, is being exposed to all things good.  So, think of everything you want to do with your adult dog to be comfortable with and that is what we need to be focusing on exposing our puppies to during weeks 8-16. We can teach an old dog how to sit and lay down and to even come when called.  But what you can't do is go back and imprint all good things in the environment.

Okay I want that Super Dog Obedience skills how do I get that?   Once your puppy turns 6 months old, they can be enrolled in our Board and Train Program.  This program focuses on stronger obedience skills. Puppies must be at least 6 months old to be enrolled in our Board and Train Program.
